Community Participation Agreement

[Last updated: July 2026]

Before We Begin

Thank you for choosing to participate in a community experience with Cat Paterson.

Whether you are attending an online class, workshop, retreat or other facilitated event, this agreement explains how these experiences are held, what you can expect, and our shared responsibilities for creating a safe, respectful and supportive environment.

Community experiences may incorporate one or more therapeutic or wellbeing approaches depending on the nature of the event. Full details of the activities, practical arrangements and any event-specific information are provided on the relevant event page before booking.

Some events may be delivered alongside guest practitioners. Their involvement and any event-specific information will be explained on the relevant event page before booking.

These experiences are intended to support wellbeing, personal development and self-awareness. They are not a substitute for appropriate medical, psychiatric or emergency healthcare.

Please read this agreement before completing your event registration. By registering for an event and proceeding with your booking, you confirm that you have read and agree to the terms of this agreement. If you have any questions before booking, please contact Cat.

01. Shared Participation

Community experiences are built on trust, mutual respect and personal responsibility. Cat provides a professionally facilitated environment designed to support participants throughout the experience, while recognising that every individual remains responsible for their own wellbeing, choices and participation.

Cat will:

  • Facilitate a safe, respectful and professionally held environment.

  • Work within the scope of her professional training and experience.

  • Provide clear information about the event and answer reasonable questions before participation where possible.

  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

  • Treat information shared during the event respectfully and handle your personal information in accordance with Cat’s Privacy & Cookies Policy and applicable UK data protection law.

  • Take reasonable steps to support participant wellbeing throughout the event.

As a participant, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and honest information relevant to your wellbeing where requested.

  • Inform Cat of any significant changes to your health or circumstances that may affect your participation.

  • Participate voluntarily and only to the extent that feels appropriate for you.

  • Respect the wellbeing, privacy and experience of other participants.

  • Follow any reasonable guidance provided to help maintain a safe environment for everyone attending.

  • Raise any concerns or questions if you are unsure about any aspect of the experience.

02. Informed Participation

Before taking part in a community experience, it is important that you understand:

  • Your participation is entirely voluntary.

  • You are free to pause, modify or stop participating at any time.

  • Some activities may involve physical movement, breathwork, relaxation, guided reflection or other wellbeing practices that can result in physical or emotional responses.

  • Where an activity may involve physical contact or hands-on support, this will be explained and your consent will be sought before any contact takes place.

  • Every person's experience is unique, and specific outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

  • You are encouraged to listen to your body, participate at a pace that feels appropriate, and pause, modify or stop any activity at any time. There is no expectation to complete every practice.

03. Suitability

Community wellbeing experiences may not be suitable for everyone or every circumstance.

Some activities may include breathwork, guided relaxation, meditation, visualisation, movement, mindfulness, sound, therapeutic reflection or other wellbeing practices that may not be appropriate for all individuals.

Before participating, it is your responsibility to consider whether the experience is suitable for you and to provide accurate information about your health and wellbeing where requested.

Please inform Cat before booking if any of the following apply to you, or if you are unsure whether participation is appropriate:

  • You are pregnant or have recently given birth.

  • You have epilepsy or a history of seizures.

  • You have significant cardiovascular conditions, including uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, previous heart attack or angina.

  • You have a history of stroke, aneurysm or other significant neurological conditions.

  • You have glaucoma, a detached retina, recent eye surgery or another condition affecting the eyes where pressure changes may be unsuitable.

  • You have severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or another significant respiratory condition.

  • You have osteoporosis or another condition affecting the bones or spine that may be aggravated by certain movements or breathing practices.

  • You have recently undergone surgery or experienced a significant physical injury.

  • You have a diagnosed psychiatric condition, including psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or another condition that is not currently well managed or supported by an appropriate healthcare professional.

  • You are currently experiencing severe anxiety, panic attacks, dissociation, suicidal thoughts or significant emotional distress.

  • You are taking medication that may affect your ability to participate safely.

  • You have recently experienced a major bereavement, traumatic event or significant life crisis that you believe Cat should be aware of.

  • You have any other medical, physical or psychological condition that may affect your participation.

This list is intended as guidance and is not exhaustive. If you have any concerns about your health or whether an event is appropriate for you, please contact Cat before booking.

Depending on the nature of the event, you may also be asked to complete a Health & Wellbeing Declaration before attending.

Where appropriate, Cat may recommend that you seek medical advice or additional professional support, or postpone participation where this would better support your wellbeing or the safety and wellbeing of the wider group.

04. Online & In-Person Participation

Community experiences may take place online, in person or in residential settings. Event-specific information will always be provided before your event.

Online Participation

If you are attending online, you agree to:

  • Participate from a safe, quiet and private environment where you will not be disturbed.

  • Use a reliable internet connection where reasonably possible.

  • Avoid participating while driving, operating machinery or undertaking any activity that requires your full attention.

  • Accept responsibility for your own physical environment and wellbeing throughout the session.

  • Provide current contact and emergency contact details where requested.

While Cat will guide and support participants throughout the session, online participation has practical limitations. As she is not physically present in your environment, you remain responsible for your surroundings, wellbeing and decision to continue, modify or pause the practice.

If you have any concerns about your health or wellbeing during or after the session, please seek appropriate support from a healthcare professional or emergency services where necessary.

In-Person Participation

If you are attending an in-person event, Cat will provide all relevant venue, arrival and practical information before the event.

Please follow any reasonable guidance provided by Cat or the event team to help maintain a safe, respectful and supportive environment for everyone attending.

If you are feeling unwell with symptoms of a contagious illness before the event, please contact Cat as soon as reasonably possible so that the most appropriate arrangements can be discussed.

05. Confidentiality & Respect

Community experiences are most effective when everyone feels able to participate in a safe, respectful and supportive environment.

Participants are asked to respect the privacy and confidentiality of others. Personal experiences shared during an event should remain within the group unless the individual has given their permission for them to be shared elsewhere.

Everyone attending is expected to contribute to an environment that is respectful, inclusive and considerate of others. Disruptive, abusive, discriminatory or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.

Where appropriate, Cat reserves the right to ask a participant to leave an event if their behaviour compromises the safety, wellbeing or experience of others.

06. Photography, Recording & Media

From time to time, photographs, video or audio recordings may be taken during events for educational, promotional or community purposes.

Where recordings or photography are planned, participants will be informed in advance and given the opportunity to provide or decline consent in accordance with Cat's Media, Photography & Recording Consent.

Participants are asked not to photograph, record or share other participants without their knowledge and permission.

07. Payment, Cancellation & Event Changes

Payment, cancellation and any event-specific booking arrangements are provided on the relevant event page before you register. By proceeding with your booking, you agree to those terms.

Payment

Payment is required in accordance with the booking arrangements for the specific event. Your place is not confirmed until payment has been received, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Cancellation by You the Participant

If you need to cancel your place, please notify Cat as soon as reasonably possible.

The cancellation terms for each event are published on the relevant event page and may vary depending on the nature of the event, venue commitments and preparation involved.

Where refunds, transfers or credits are available, these will be administered in accordance with the published event terms.

Cancellation by Cat the Practitioner

If Cat needs to postpone, reschedule or cancel an event, participants will be informed as soon as reasonably possible. Where appropriate, participants may be offered.

Event Changes

It may occasionally be necessary to make reasonable changes to an event. This may include changes to the timetable, venue, guest practitioners, programme content or other practical arrangements.

Where any significant changes are required, participants will be informed as soon as reasonably possible.

Circumstances Beyond Cat’s Control

Cat cannot accept responsibility for delays, cancellations or changes caused by circumstances beyond her reasonable control, including severe weather, venue closure, travel disruption, public health restrictions, illness, emergencies or other unforeseen events.

Where reasonably possible, suitable alternative arrangements will be offered.

08. Safety & Emergencies

The safety and wellbeing of participants is important throughout every community experience.

If Cat believes that it is not safe or appropriate for a participant to continue, she may ask them to pause, modify or stop participating. In some circumstances, she may recommend that a participant leaves the event or seeks appropriate medical or professional support.

In the event of a medical emergency, appropriate emergency services may be contacted where reasonably necessary.

09. Concerns & Complaints

Cat is committed to providing a professional, respectful and compassionate experience.

If you have any concerns about your experience, you are encouraged to raise them as soon as reasonably possible so they can be discussed openly and, where possible, resolved.

Information about Cat's complaints procedure is available upon request.
