Therapeutic Services Agreement

[Last updated: August 2026]

Before We Begin

Thank you for choosing to work with Catherine Paterson.

Catherine is a UK-based Rapid Transformational Therapy® (RTT®) Practitioner, Clinical Hypnotherapist, Breathwork Facilitator and Wellbeing Professional.

This agreement explains how Catherine works, what you can expect from her, and the responsibilities you each hold in creating a safe, respectful and effective therapeutic relationship.

Sessions may draw on one or more therapeutic approaches depending on your individual needs and the service you have booked. These may include clinical hypnotherapy, Rapid Transformational Therapy® (RTT®), NLP, nervous-system regulation, somatic awareness, breathwork, visualisation, parts work and related therapeutic approaches. No particular method is used automatically; the work is shaped around the individual and what is appropriate within Catherine’s professional scope.

RTT may be integrated into broader individual work or, where specifically requested and considered appropriate following assessment, offered as a dedicated standalone RTT session.

These services are intended to support wellbeing, personal development and therapeutic change. They do not replace appropriate medical, psychiatric, psychological or emergency healthcare.

Please read this agreement before completing your Therapeutic Services Registration Form / Client Intake Questionnaire. By submitting the form and proceeding with your booking, you confirm that you have read and agree to the terms set out below.

If you have any questions about this agreement or would like clarification before booking, please contact Catherine at [insert email address].

01. Our Shared Responsibilities

Therapeutic work is a collaborative process built on trust, openness and mutual respect. Catherine brings professional knowledge, therapeutic skill and experience to each session, while you remain the expert in your own life, experiences and choices. Working together in this way helps create the conditions for safe, effective and meaningful work.

Catherine will:

  • Provide a safe, respectful and professionally held therapeutic environment.

  • Work within the scope of her professional training, competence and experience.

  • Explain the therapeutic process and answer reasonable questions.

  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

  • Treat information shared during therapy confidentially and handle your personal information in accordance with applicable UK data protection law.

  • Refer or signpost you to another suitably qualified professional where this would better support your needs.

As a client, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and honest information relevant to your wellbeing.

  • Inform Catherine of any significant changes to your physical or mental health, medication or circumstances that may affect your therapy.

  • Complete any requested questionnaires or forms honestly and to the best of your knowledge.

  • Ask questions if you are unsure about any aspect of the therapeutic process.

  • Respect agreed appointment times, payment arrangements and cancellation terms.

  • Participate voluntarily and only to the extent that feels appropriate for you.

02. Informed Consent

Before beginning therapy, it is important that you understand:

  • Your participation is entirely voluntary.

  • You may pause, modify or stop a session at any time.

  • Some therapeutic approaches may involve exploring emotionally significant memories, beliefs or experiences.

  • Emotional or physical responses during or after a session can occur as part of the therapeutic process.

  • Therapy is collaborative and, while many clients experience meaningful change, specific outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

  • You are encouraged to discuss any questions, concerns or discomfort before or during therapy.

  • Some in-person RTT or hypnotherapeutic techniques may involve light, appropriate physical contact, such as gently guiding hand movements or briefly touching the head or arms. This will always be explained beforehand and will only take place with your consent.

03. Suitability

Therapeutic work may not be appropriate for every person or circumstance.

The information you provide enables Catherine to assess whether the service is suitable and can be delivered safely. Where appropriate, she may recommend medical advice, specialist mental-health support or another form of care before or alongside therapy.

Catherine may decline, postpone or discontinue therapeutic work where the issues presented fall outside her professional scope, where a higher level of clinical or crisis support is required, or where another professional is better placed to support you.

Where a particular practice, including breathwork, may have specific health considerations or contraindications, Catherine may ask for further information or appropriate medical guidance before proceeding.

04. Confidentiality

Information shared during therapy is treated confidentially and with care.

Confidentiality may be limited where:

  • Disclosure is required by law.

  • There is a serious concern about your safety or the safety of another person.

  • Catherine has a safeguarding responsibility or another lawful professional reason to act.

Where reasonably possible and appropriate, Catherine will discuss this with you before sharing information.

Outside these circumstances, information will not ordinarily be disclosed without your knowledge and consent. Further information about the handling of personal data is provided in Catherine’s Privacy & Cookies Policy.

05. Appointments

Online Sessions

If your appointment takes place online, you agree to:

  • Participate from a safe, quiet and private environment where you are unlikely to be disturbed.

  • Use a reasonably reliable internet connection and a suitable device.

  • Position your device so Catherine can see and hear you appropriately for the work being undertaken.

  • Provide current contact and, where requested, emergency contact details.

  • Avoid participating while driving, operating machinery or undertaking any activity that requires your full attention.

Headphones may be useful but are not normally compulsory. For hypnosis, relaxation or similar work, you should have a safe and comfortable place to sit or recline where appropriate.

If technical difficulties prevent the session from continuing, Catherine will discuss whether the session can continue, be rearranged or be completed at another agreed time.

In-Person Sessions

If your appointment takes place in person, details of the appointment location, together with any relevant arrival, access or parking information, will be provided before your appointment.

Please arrive on time for your session. If you are running late or experience unexpected delays, please let Catherine know as soon as reasonably possible.

If you are experiencing symptoms of a contagious illness, please contact Catherine before attending so that the most appropriate arrangements can be discussed.

06. Fees & Payment

The fee for your chosen service will be confirmed before booking. Different services, longer specialist sessions, packages or bespoke recordings may be priced differently.

Unless otherwise agreed, payment is required at least 72 hours before your appointment. Your session is not treated as fully confirmed until the required payment has been received.

Catherine may update her fees from time to time, but any change will not affect an appointment that has already been booked and paid for unless otherwise agreed.

07. Cancellation, Rescheduling & Missed Appointments

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice.

Appointments cancelled or rescheduled with less than 48 hours’ notice may be charged in full.

If you do not attend a scheduled appointment and have not provided notice, the session may be treated as a missed appointment and charged in full.

Where Catherine needs to cancel or reschedule an appointment, you will be offered an alternative appointment or an appropriate refund.

Catherine may use reasonable discretion in genuine emergencies or exceptional circumstances. Any exception does not create an ongoing right to waive the cancellation terms.

08. Personalised Recordings

Some therapeutic packages or sessions may include a personalised recording where Catherine considers this useful to support the work. A recording is not automatically included with every appointment unless this has been stated as part of the service booked.

Where a recording is provided, it is for your personal use only and should not be shared, reproduced, published or used commercially without permission.

Do not listen to hypnosis, guided relaxation or other inwardly focused recordings while driving, operating machinery or undertaking any activity requiring your full attention. Follow any specific listening guidance Catherine provides.

09. Professional Boundaries

To maintain a safe and professional therapeutic relationship:

  • Therapeutic work takes place within agreed appointments unless otherwise arranged.

  • Communication outside sessions should normally relate to appointments, practical matters or agreed follow-up support.

  • Any between-session support included within a particular package will be explained separately.

  • Catherine does not provide emergency or crisis support between sessions.

  • Social media and personal communication channels should not be used to seek urgent therapeutic support.

Catherine does not provide emergency or crisis support. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or attend A&E. For urgent mental-health support that is not an emergency, contact NHS 111 or another appropriate healthcare service.

Catherine is based in the United Kingdom and provides her services under the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory rights that may apply to you.

10. Concerns & Complaints

Catherine is committed to providing a professional, respectful and compassionate service.

If you have concerns about any aspect of your experience, please raise them as soon as reasonably possible so they can be discussed and, where possible, resolved.

If your concern relates specifically to the handling of your personal information, Catherine’s Privacy & Cookies Policy explains how to make a data-protection complaint and your right to contact the Information Commissioner’s Office where applicable.

Further information about Catherine’s general complaints procedure is available upon request.

11. Privacy

Your personal information will be collected, used, stored and protected in accordance with Catherine’s Privacy & Cookies Policy and applicable UK data protection law.

Where health or wellbeing information is collected, it may constitute special category personal data and will be handled in accordance with the additional protections required by law.

12. Agreement

By submitting your Therapeutic Services Registration Form / Client Intake Questionnaire and proceeding with your booking, you confirm that:

  • You have read and understood this Therapeutic Services Agreement.

  • You have had the opportunity to ask questions before beginning therapy.

  • You understand the nature and scope of the services being provided.

  • You understand your responsibilities as a client.

  • You understand that participation is voluntary and that specific outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

  • You understand that Catherine will review the information you provide to assess whether the service is appropriate for your needs.

  • You understand that Catherine may recommend other or additional professional support where appropriate.

  • You understand that your personal information will be handled in accordance with the Privacy & Cookies Policy.

  • You agree to the terms set out in this agreement.

Submitting the registration or intake form does not commit either party to proceeding. It provides Catherine with the information needed to consider suitability and gives both parties a considered place to begin.

If you do not agree to these terms, please do not submit your form or proceed with your booking.
